SoWa Artist District

SoWa First Fridays is an event that takes place once a month and is a dynamic and exciting celebration of art, culture, and innovation. It is hosted by the South End's Art + Design District. This event takes place on the first Friday of every month and welcomes anybody who has an appreciation for the creative process as well as an interest in art. The South of Washington (SoWa) district is home to a strong artistic community in addition to a variety of galleries, shops, and showrooms. As a photographer, one of my primary objectives is to capture the event in a manner that does the creative process of the artist's credit. My goal is to convey the level of skill, dedication, and passion that went into creating the pieces of art that are currently being shown. It is my intention to snap photographs of the artists in action, documenting their expressions as well as the most minute details of their work.

This project is more than just a collection of images; rather, it is an inquiry of the creative process in action. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to watch artists at work, bringing their visions to life while transforming raw materials into breathtaking works of art. It is an opportunity to speak with the creators, discover where they derive their ideas, and acquire knowledge on their processes. SoWa First Fridays is a cultural event that is open to all ages and is kid- and pet-friendly. It helps bring more art and culture to the neighborhood.
